The Sleigh Style Platform Bed has a long history dating back to the early 19th century. Early examples of this style are highlighted by “scrolled” or curved head and footboards thus resembling a sleigh. This Empire style, as it was known, was a design similar to pieces found in the ruins of ancient Rome and Greece.
Our own Brooklyn workshop Sleigh Platform Bed takes a more modern approach, with gently flowing curves hand-crafted into the head and foot. All of our platform beds are available in American black cherry, walnut, or sugar maple and built with sturdy, wobble-free mortise and tenon joinery for a platform bed lifespan measured in decades.
