All of our platform style bed frames are made from solid hardwood sustainably harvested from local forests. Our preferred species are cherry (prunus serontina), black walnut (juglans nigra), sugar maple (acer saccharum), and oak.
We have been making platform style bed-frames, designed for mattress only, in our Brooklyn workshop for nearly thirty years and are convinced that the best construction method is to bolt the side and end rails to the posts. Crafted in this manner, the bed frame can last for the life of the wood; a hundred years or more.
The mattress is supported by an array of hardwood slats that provides a flat firm surface for the mattress yet promotes ventilation of the mattress. Our bed-frames are designed to used with only a mattress of 8″ to 10″ with no need for a “foundation”.
