Scott Jordan Furniture has been making furniture in the New York City area for more than thirty years and we are more than happy to offer our expert design advice based on those many years of furniture making.  For example, this recent composition was completed for an Art Deco era  Manhattan Apartment.  The middle section houses a large flat screen television that will be mounted to the wall with storage underneath for electronic equipment.  Using an all mortise and tenon construction for the primary joinery, this case also features our platform base with a through dovetail joint.  It is made using only the finest select Pennsylvania Cherry and finished in a natural hand-rubbed application of oil and wax.

At Scott Jordan Furniture we prefer to make all of our pieces tailored for your specific needs and your individual interior.  This recent composition combines the much needed storage of bookcase with a fully functional work-space. Made from all solid Pennsylvania cherry wood, the middle and lower two drawers of the base cabinet are set up as file cabinets with four additional drawers left and right.  On top of this base, our expert craftsmen engineered a desk to drop down from the middle section for storage of a laptop with flanking spaces for our client’s electronic equipment and printer, ported in the back panel for clean, easy access.  While the piece stands 90″h and 74″w it is very easily delivered, made in a modular fashion for tight New York City buildings, and is assembled on site.

All of our furniture at Scott Jordan Furniture is made one at a time in our Brooklyn Navy Yard workshop.  Typical of our construction, this unique Nevins Style Desk features floating dovetail battens, and all mortise and tenon joinery with glued, fingered corner blocks securing the entire structure.  Unlike many furniture manufacturers today, this type of heirloom quality construction allows for sturdy, strong, unyielding use with a lifetime measured in decades not years or in some cases only months.  The pull out tray is made to allow easy access to today’s personal ultrabook laptops or as a hide-away for a keyboard.  This style of desk is available in many sizes or as shown here in all solid Pennsylvania cherry at a 48″ width and 30″ depth.

Our own Brooklyn workshop Nevins Desks are available in sizes tailored for your interior and your specific needs.  Typical of our table and desk construction each piece is made with all solid mortise and tenon joinery, fingered corner blocks, and dovetailed floating battens through the table top.  Making desks and tables with this construction allows for decades of strong, reliable, and solid use which is more than many furniture companies can say.  Available with or without pencil drawers or with our nested storage pedestals (as shown).  Also available in Pennsylvania cherry, Black Walnut, or Sugar Maple in many different sizes.

All of our cabinetry can be made in a style to suit your work environment.  This particular File Cabinet features a small pencil drawer for storage over a file drawer made to accommodate any size file system.  Each drawer is made with an inset walnut pull and cove detail around the perimeter of each drawer face panel.  The composition features only solid American black walnut with a hand rubbed application of oil and wax.  The overall size is 20″ wide, 21″deep, and stands at 22″ in height which is a perfect size for nesting with any of our Nevins Style Desks.
